We focus on boutique commercial interiors—venues that are immersive and memorable. The name Vacation Studio comes from a simple idea: a great interior design has the ability to transport. To shift your mood, even briefly. An escape from routine. A vacation.

Vacation Studio is led by Tahlia Kossen, an interior designer with over a decade of experience across Melbourne and Perth. Since graduating in 2010 with a Diploma of Interior Design, her work has spanned specialty joinery, residential design and commercial interiors.

Her time at Bergman & Co. in Melbourne was formative—working on a range of projects that received industry recognition and helped shape a strong, narrative-driven approach to commercial design.

She later established an independent practice, collaborating with Studio Co & Co on projects including Rocco’s Bologna Discoteca and Berry Hair, while also delivering a series of smaller-scale commercial projects across Melbourne. These included a boutique osteopathic clinic in Fitzroy, an allied health centre in Fitzroy North, and a reimagined office for a Barrister seeking something more imaginitive than the typical chamber office. During this time, she also worked alongside Bree Banfield and Heather Nette King.

After nearly a decade in Melbourne, Tahlia returned to Perth and formally established Vacation Studio as a Pty Ltd in late 2024. The studio now operates Australia wide, with early independent projects already receiving shortlist recognition in national design awards.
